As there're many disadvantages of traditional prestress technology in civil engineering, a new technology to prestress into component—electrothermal method appears, which can be used conveniently, easy to manipulate, apt to control the tension stress with less loss of the stress, can adapt to various situations and lower the danger during construction. Such method is able to increase prestress by heating, cooling and fixing steels. The research on applying electrothermal method in prestress technology have arouse extensive attention in the world, but it has not technology and computing theory systemly and still in the stage of exploration. The paper research on the following aspects:1. Electrothermal reaction of prestressed reinforcement. That is physical, mechanical reaction and stability in physics of the material when warming.2. The theory, technology, technics of electrothermal method.3. Computing theory of electrothermal method.The research is based on experimental bridge, XiaoXi bridge. Through combination between theory and experiments, it find out the technology of apply prestressing, which is on the safe side, conveniency, adaptable with computing theory and technology systemly.In order to apply the prestressing force, analysis on electrothermal reaction of prestressed reinforcement in experiments and theory is required. In the experiments, firstly it need to realize the electrothermal reaction of the reinforcement of definite length. Secondly it need to warm the steels to the definite temperature in the accordion pipe by electrifying, measure the length of the steels, compare it with the result of computing theory. In the theory, it using numerical analysis to elicit the computing method of electrothermal method.Electrothermal method, as a new technology contrast to mechanical means, will bring a technology reform in prestress technology, and upstanding economy benefit and social effect to our country nowadays in foundation construction. The paper has mighty potential in industrialization, through systemic research and exploiture, will form a new development hotspot of prestressing technology.
