Maintaining the superheated steam temperature strictly in an expected range is very important to the safe and economic running of power plant. The boiler of coal-fired power plant is the controlled object with varying parameters and disturbances, nonlinear and time lag. At the present time, there are still many superheated steam temperature control systems controlled with PID adjustor which results in many demerits in control quality, such as the big controlling delay and big overshoot.In this paper, based on the NO.2 steam temperature of 600MW boiler of CPI Huainan Pingwei electric power limited liability company which had the problems of bad control quality and surpassing temperature easily, a single Neuron self-adaptive PSD controller which has the characteristic of self-learning, good self- adaptability and robustness is designed and applied to the superheated steam temperature control systems. On the one hand, we used the real running data of the superheated steam temperature to get precise models of the control objects by using the system identification module of the coal-fired power plant boiler advanced control platform which developed by our laboratory. Based on the models, some simulations are done with the single Neuron self-adaptive PSD controller. In order to obtain the conclusion, this control strategy is compared to the cascade PID control strategy, it can provide quick response, less over-adjustment, and good anti-disturbances ability. On the other hand, this paper utilizes DCS control system platform to develop the research of advanced control strategy and engineering practical application, and realizes DCS configuration including feed-forward compensation, feedback modification, anti-integration saturation, signal tracking, Human-Machine-Interface, and undisturbed switching. With the result that this strategy is successfully applied to the superheated steam temperature control system of the coal-fired power plant boiler, with maintaining the systems' stability, improving the dynamic and static performance, elevating the control quality, and getting good repay for economics and safeness and potential practical value.
