| The dissertation tries to probe into the relationship between the eco-economics and sustainable architecture. Through introducing the new eco-economic principles into the research of sustainable architecture, the dissertation hopes to find out a way to improve the practice of this revolutionary concept.The dissertation consists of four parts. At the first part, after clarifying the economical concept of buildings, the author begins a review to the evolvement of the social economic concepts, trying to find out their influence on architectural out looking. Thought summarizing the inter relationship between the architecture and economics, the dissertation brings forward the feasibility and importance of introducing eco-economic theories into the research of sustainable architecture. The second part analyses the relationship between the economic-orient discussion and other parts of the sustainable architecture research, such as technological and social discussion. Furthermore, the author also points out both economic obstacles and opportunities in the development of sustainable architecture. All of these make up of the background of the following research. The third part is the main body of the dissertation. After introducing the principles and strategies of the natural capital theory, the author analyses the influences that the natural capital theory puts on the sustainable architecture research in three ways, the reconstruction of the cost concept,the value concept and the extension of the integral design principle. And finally, the author points out the changes of design strategies bringing by these reconstruction and extension. At the final part of the dissertation, the author examines the actual practices of the new strategies by a case study. The research of Zero (fossil) energy development, leading by eco-architect Bill Dunster, has achieved many success in the economic-orient sustainable architecture study. The BedZED project is one of its latest successful practices. |
