Lost-cost road has been concerned by highway engineers for years. Based on MOC's technological project"Research On The Lost-cost Construction Technology In Country And Rural Area"in the west of China and the practical conditions of lost-cost road in Sichuan province, this dissertation adopts shale soil stabilized by inorganic combinative materials and solidifying agent as base course. Based on laboratory study, strength characteristic, water stability characteristic, temperature shrink and dry shrink characteristic, strength formation mechanism of the following materials are studied, shale soil stabilized with cement, shale soil stabilized with lime fly ash, shale soil stabilized with cement and low strength aggregate, shale soil stabilized with lime fly ash and low strength aggregate, shale soil stabilized with consolidation agent. At last the suitable road base course material in Sichuan province are presented which can make Sichuan province get remarkable economic benefit with reasonable road structure and construction procedure.
