As a splendid star among the historical buildings on the Bund of modern Shanghai, the Sassoon House has been of great value in history and culture. Through the ways of seeking historical material, deeply researching on current situation, and analyzing social and economic background, this thesis conducts a study on the evolvement of its architecture styles and characters of historical spaces, in order to explore the multifactors which affect the evolvement of architecture style, at the same time, estimate its unique values and give proposals to its regeneration.The thesis firstly illustrates the origin and evolvement of Sassoon House, concentrating on its design, construction and uses. And then, the thesis focuses on the building itself, analyzing its style, characters of the elevation and interior spaces. Based on the above content, the thesis finally values the historical characters of Sassoon House. With uncovering the existing and hidden problems by contrasting the history and the reality, the thesis attempts to explore the strategies of the preservation and regeneration of Sassoon House.
