With the changing demand of railway freight wagon and the fast development of the advanced manufacturing technology, especially the stepwise application of the soft process equipment, the computer aided building block design has been paid more and more attention by the railway manufacturing industry for the advantages of shortening the development cycle of product, fast response to the turn of market, ease of maintenance and upgrading of products and elongating the life cycle of product. In this paper, based on the demand of enterprise, the design theory and method for blocking scheme of clamping fixture are further studied; the difference and similarity of under frame of railway freight wagon on structure and size are analyzed; the design system frame of blocking scheme for freight wagon under frame is constructed; the blocking design method for under frame assembly is generalized. The main aspects for the paper are composed as follows:(1) The meaning and function of blocking design of blocking design are presented; the present status and development trend of blocking design are introduced.(2) The relevant concepts of blocking design are defined; the key function of function analysis in blocking design are stated; the assembly clamping fixture of freight wagon under frame is studied with the group technology analysis; the functional classification is applied for clamping fixtures.(3) The purpose, principle and method for blocking encode are presented; the new blocking encode system is formed.(4) The design method of blocking scheme for clamping fixture is studied and the fitting scheme for blocking is set in practice.(5) The general evaluation is applied for scheme with fuzzy general evaluating method.The scientific, practical, time-saving and synergizing design method for clamping fixture for freight wagon under frame are explored by studying this subject. This study has reached the advanced level in the domestic railway freight wagon manufacturing industry and provided a base for application of blocking technology in design in the future.
