In order to improve the management of a gas field, on the basis of digital signal processing technology a new wet gas flow meter is developed and it will substitute the expensive and ponderous metering separator in the production of oil gas. First, the thesis presents a research on the measurement process and the whole structure of the flow metering system, and analyzes the schematic circuit of the main hardware modules. Second, in the part of software, the thesis describes the function of every software modules and draws the flow chart of the program. The emphasis of software is to realize USB1.1 protocol, the mass storage class protocol, the FAT file system, the LZW data compression algorithm, the LCD screen driver program, as well as the research of online programming on DSP and of parallel bootloader on FLASH. The architecture of system is flexible. It can be expanded and maintained easily. The system with which the thesis developed has realized data aquisition, data compression and decompression, a friendly human-machine interface, RS232 serial communication, reading or writing USB disk, and independent implementation of a FLASH based TMS320VC5402 DSP system. The research underlined in this thesis sets up a solid foundation for prototyping the wet gas flowmeter.
