Defects produced in the course of testing or using guns cann't be measured in quantity and in nature before. The paper discusses on a new method of testing defects in barrel surface of new gun clan with the caliber of 5.8 mm in details.Firstly, the overall scheme is designed, according to the system's technical requirements. Compostition and working principle of the system of endoscope are elaborated. Images capturing, observing and analysing technology is introduced. The results will be obtained on computer.Secondly, the illuminate system is designed, according to the technical requirements. The basic demand of illuminate system is given and the light source and the optic fiber and the light set are chosen. The advantagement and the working principle on electric circuit of xenon light are summarized. Parameters in optical system of endoscope are determined by the techical requirements. The measuring system includes the length measuring system and the angle measuring system. Linear rolling guide, ball screw driver, aixal structure and stepping motor are selected on the technical requirements(the measuring accuracy/time/length etc).The basic functions and constitutions of the iamge capturing system are discussed. Working principles of the CCD and the CCD camera, the basic structure and the work principles of the image capturing card are described. The image capturing card is determined on the technical requirements. The main function of electronic control system and software is to image capturing/processing/saving/playback/controlling/human-computer interaction. Finally, the accuracy and resolution of the system are ayalyzed.
