The 21st century is a perceptual era with fast developing technologies and affectional consumptions as its main characteristics. In many domains, a lot of natural elements are precious resources, which are borrowed in design and simulated for applications. In the design domain, the application of bionic design can increase the products'substance and spirit values. As the tide and trend, bionic design is becoming an important product design method. On the industrial design aspect, product bionic design can satisfy the consumers'emotion requests, suitable for the people in this emotionless age. The bionic design is well studied in this dissertation from the theory and practice angles, and the emphases are put on the bionic methods of modality, color and texture.Firstly, the basic theories of bionic design are introduced, and then, the basic theories for product bionic design and applications are well discussed by colligating the principles of product semasiology, chromatology and cognizance psychology. Secondly, the bionic design methods are classified according to its applications in the product design, and then the general design methods and steps are proposed under the guidance of design theories. Thirdly, combing some practical design cases, the detailed methods, principles and meanings of bionic design are given out through analysis, study and summarization, and then the detailed manipulations are brought forward, including molding manipulations, detail design rules and practical application methods. At last, the Feasibility of the proposed product bionic design methods are validated through the analysis of the cases and the applications in the detailed design by the author.
