The 3-D entity reconstruction technology is applied in mechanical design domain. The theoretical basis of the measure and reconstruction device studied in this project is the buoyancy-based non-contact method, and the device has excellent performance of high precision, high speed and low cost. The measure system of this device was designed and researched in this paper, including function analysis, principle research, structure design, performance test, actual-measure experiment, etc. The research is an innovative exploratory development in the 3-D measure domain.The measure system is the key element of the 3-D measure and reconstruction device, and its function is to obtain each layer's cross-sectional area and barycentric coordinate. The non-fixed-arm measure scheme was analyzed, and chosen as the system measure principle by compared with the fixed-arm scheme. The original measure data was the special resultant-force containing buoyancy.The main factors affected system performance were studied with experimental method, such as the balance performance, the deformation and link of the below-weighing hang-thread, the cross beam unit's barycentric position, buoyancy-balance weight. The method of improvement was supplied accordingly.The system's structure, including bearing and knife pivot-point forms, was designed with Pro/E software. The comparative tests were operated between the two forms of the system model, and the bearing form was chosen as the system structure. Using the measure system and the control system, the actual-measure experiment was carried out and gained a satisfactory measure data. The high-accuracy 3-D entity model could be obtained by data conversion and reconstruction system.The measure system designed in this paper can accomplish high-accuracy 3-D entity measure with the simple structure and algorithm. With this system, the measure time of one layer is less than 40s; the result's relative error is lower than 2%. The system can be applied to accomplish 3-D entity reconstruction running with other system. The design and research has big practical value and theory significance, and necessary references are supplied for the further study and improvement.
