The massive traditional city architectures were demolished in cityrenewal, and also the pattem of historical city and its cultural contentwere destroyed. With the process of globalization, the cultural exchangingand sharing, they made the modern architecture and the whole vivid citycharacteristics becoming flaw and sameness. How to enable ourtraditional city architecture obtain the better protection and development?How does the modern architecture continue the traditional culture spiritand make it has the time characteristic? How does the city the vividcharacteristic? There are our research questions and we need solutionurgently.Chapter one, analysis and summarizing the theory of traditionalarchitecture development and preservation. Then in the chapter two, weoutline the basic framework through distinguish the concept of traditionalarchitecture image and define research scope. It mainly uses literalresearch, classified research and the contrast research. These demonstratecan advance the reasonable characteristics of the core thought which theway to absorb soul of Chinese traditional architectures and to createmodem architecture with Chinese characteristics. It also provided thenecessary theoretical basis to traditional architecture preservation andreuse research.The third and fourth chapters are "Discover and Analyze". Mainlyused classified and contrast research methods to analyze the reason ofmodern city architectures image characteristic flaw thoroughly, to protecttraditional constructions and solve contradictory questions in thedevelopment of modern city. In the research process, it analyze andreveals the inevitable relationship between city image and traditionalarchitectures that are significance to the city image development.The fifth and sixth chapters are "solve the problem" and "thepractice confirmation" research part. It is also the key part of article. Thecentral argument is about dialectical relationships between tradition andmodern, which continue to inherits the tradition is the development premise as the research instruction. The key discussion about preserveand reuse city traditional architectures contains three contents.First, we should extant city tradition architectures and reuseprotection. Second, we should withdraws the traditional constructionprototype and create the method to the city modern architecture. Last, weshould use the unification method to rich the city characteristic image.Mainly to outlines the whole framework and realizationmethodology about the preservation and reuse of city traditionalarchitectures. Our practice topic research of traditional architecturesimage design is in Xian Tan city. The goal of the research is to increasesexperience and confirms scientific characteristics theory in the practicedesign process.
