The research is part of 973 Research Project--The Knowledge-base Industrial Design Assistant System.Using the analogy about form generation in nature and human design, by combining the Genetic algorithms and generative design theory, this paper presents the concept of"Product form gene"to explain the heredity and evolution phenomenon of form generation. Based on the review of the related studies, this thesis presents a flat automobile form gene to explain the multiple divergence-convergence evolution of the automobile form transition, and this gene controls the direction of evolution through the reproduction of the population by mutation and crossover operator in different design scenarios. Taking the Audi brand and Audi A6 as the samples to investigate, a representation model of the automobile gene and corresponding metadata-base are constructed. At the same time, a new automobile design theory and method based on the generation and evolution are established to build the gene model in the CBAS (Case-base Automobile Styling) System.As a new conception, Automobile form gene and the Audi brand evolution will provide an effective way of auto design towards the establishment of the China auto brand. Finally, this thesis provides the probability of system expansion in terms of building the form generation and Genetic algorithms, and suggests several avenues for further research. |
