The process planning is the bridge and the link to connect the product design and the new product manufacture. It's an important link of manufacture system, which has the important influence to the product quality and the production cost. The production technological document and the correlation data, which is informed by technological design, not only is the basis of producing the processing, but also is the production management and the operating control system foundation information origin. In the modern machine manufacture system, Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP) is the link of product design and the workshop production, and thebridge of joining the CAD and the CAM.This topic take enhances the system's advantage and the usability as the basic principle. We have conducted the certain research and the discussion to the engine parts CAPP system in the system adaptability and the versatility. Considering the crank is important in engine and also is the structure complex different shape components, the key has been carried on the craft analysis as well as the technological design simulate test to the engine crank (decision-making). We has made the certain progress in the application CAPP's constitution and the essential engineering research aspect.This paper proposed the overall plan of the engine part CAPP system which was based on the database. We used the derivation type layout and the creative CAPP system structure in the overall which the type unifies to prominent system's advantage and usability, and completed the corresponding overall frame and the systematic host from this the construction controls the module, the components characteristic design module, the craft database handling module, the craft decision-making module and the technological document processing module and so on the main function module.This paper has analyzed the CAPP system's construction of data characteristic, We has carried on the research in the data model and the database construct method, also we proposed the open style database structure design pattern. This system used the Microsoft Access to establish database. Simultaneously according to the system function request, we has constructed the system foundation database, the information model database, the components craft template database, the craft regular database and the documents material database and such kinds of essential databases.This system used the Visual Basic to carry on the system's programe Compilation, in order to carry on the visible design and has a better versatility and the compatibility with the Microsoft Access database software. This system used AutoCAD to carry on components information extraction and the graphic editor, will be advantageous to integrate with the CAD in the future. This paper has analyzed the components information of constitution characteristic, as well as the way affected in the CAPP system. We carried on the description based on the characteristic code description method (characteristic code technology) to describe the components information characteristic. We simultaneously proposed the components information integration and the match concept. This system structured a kind of the mold beat craft decision-making method which was based on the object-oriented characteristic technology and the specific components processing craft route pattern characteristic CAPP system craft route decision-making method - object-oriented characteristic, can be operated craft decision-making method. It has realized the craft decision-making automation and the automatic production technological process.
