Study On The Key Technologies For Developing The USCT In China

China is the largest coal consumption/production country in the world. The fact that the coal acts as the predominant source of the power industry will remain in a quite long period. With high power-generation coal consumption rate and low energy usage efficiency, the general technical conditions of Chinese thermal power units are not satisfactory and the pollution generated from coal combustion is serious.At present, the ultra supercritical coal-fired power generation technology (USCT), an efficient energy usage technology in the world, is superior to the subcritical and conventional supercritical units regarding of the energy usage efficiency and CO₂ & SO₂ emission characteristics. Compared with a widely commercial application of the USCT in the foreign countries, our country now still have to import the technology for home manufacture, far behind the developments of our power industry and power equipment manufacturing.Based on the analysis of the processes, trends and latest plans of the advanced countries developing the USCT, the present situation is analyzed, including the design and production capability of the power equipments manufacturing industry, the foundation of thermal power plants construction and operation, production capability of auxiliary devices and localization of materials applied to thermal power units. It is concluded that China has possessed the conditions for developing the USCT on the whole, and should self-develop and partly introduce the technology of the USCT.The key technologies for developing the USCT in China are suggested in this paper, including ultra supercritical boilers, turbines, large power generators, thermal power plants construction and operation and control of the pollution generated from coal combustion. The general direction and the aims for the future work are provided.Considering the present situation and technical level, the paper presents the concrete technical route, the principals and policy suggestions for the USCT industrialization in China.
