The fracture failure easily occurred at the traditional steel frame's rigid joints under seismic loading. However, a new joint-the reduced beam section joint can solve this problem by weakening the beam section properly, keep away from serried weld seams near the joint core and avoid the fracture failure.On the base of last numbers of past documents, low cyclic loading test and fatigue test were carried out to research the failure characteristic hysteretic behavior the condition of stress development the distribution of stress and the fatigue behavior of this new joint. And the paper analyzes the test's results.The results show that the reduced beam section joint have better ductility hysteretic behavior and seismic behavior; And the quality and strength of weld seams at the end of the beam flange are the most important factor in the fatigue behavior.
