Material is the substantial base of product form design. It is not only the foundation of form and function but also the style of a product which convey uniq kansei engineering image to people. Lately, the research on the product mental imagery is mostly in the study of the product form mental imagery or simplely the color mental imagery. Even the product material researches in design studies are mainly on the molding methode in forming material or the physical features of material surface. Moreover, linear mathematical operation is mostly used in the study of relation between quality feeling of product material of quality and the kansei engineering image , there are many uncertainties in the building-up the fuzzy relations between the both.This paper has discussed the relationship which is from mental to feeling between the kansei engineering image and quality feeling of product material of quality and the main content of product material sense of quality as well as the fabricating technique that effects the quality feeling of product material; The paper has caught a comprehensive collection of the mental imagery conveying words; condensed the number of the words by means of questionnaire ; chosen out the most suitable 6 words to describing plastic material using clustering analysis; With the help of BP neural network , we have received a relation matrix to describe the fuzzy relations between the quality feeling of product material and the kansei engineering image. Finaly, in order to get the aim kansei engineering image ,the paper tried to take a evolution design on quality feeling of product material based on gene algorithm and was able to get a large number of the target results.
