With the development of world economy and the improvement of people's living standards since the 1970s, the idea of consumers had been changed greatly. The product is not the simple carrier of the use function, because more and more consumers start to pay attention to the spiritual feelings which are presented by products, such as identity, status, personality, etc. The traditional product design method, which is based on the technology-oriented, cannot satisfy the consumers'requirements, while the design method of consumer demand-oriented will tend to be the mainstream.Based on Kansei Engineering and Neural Networks theory, the product image form design method is presented in this study, in which the technology method is applied to analyze consumers'kansei image and the nonlinear character of neural networks is used to simulate and predict the kansei of product form. Then the computer-aided design technology is used to support secondary development of Solidworks and construction the product image form design system. Make consumers'kansei image throughout the product form design all the while. This method expects to design good products to meet the consumers'requirements of kansei image in the shortest time, which will help the corporation to increase the market competitiveness.First of all, this paper introduces the background of the consumer-oriented design idea, the research situation, the purpose and the meaning of this topic. Meanwhile, the theory of Kansei Engineering and Neural Network are also introduced. Then the research process and method in detail with the example of goblet form design is discussed. Firstly, the morphological analysis is used to obtain the product design factors and the questionnaire is applied to get consumers'kansei image. Secondly, according as the statistical results of SD questionnaire, the pre-input neural network system, which is more according with the human's emotion recognition, is established and practiced. Then the nonlinear correlation between the kansei image and the design factors is obtained. After it is analyzed and validated, the kansei image evaluation system is presented. Finally, the computer-aided technology is applied to construct the product image form design system based on the 3D design software (SolidWorks).
