Flow meters play a very important role in the industrial producing, so the maintenanceof flow meters is meaningful. However, there are many shortcomings in traditionalmaintenance method, such as inconvenience, a lot of money, human resource andpower wasted.Based on the analyses of different meter communication ways, combined with thehistory and development of meter maintenance in China and abroad, this dissertationdesigned the remote flow meter maintenance system, which is composed of four parts:the remote supervising computer, the communication network, the wireless gatewayand the flow meters in field.The main content of dissertation is as follows,①Gave an introduction of the application of flow meter and the meaning of flowmeter remote maintenance, compared the advantages and disadvantages of all themaintenance methods.②Presented the basic system designing thoughts, analyzed the GPRS technology,and introduced the connection between GPRS network and Internet and someapplication examples.③Designed the circuit using MSP430 microcontroller and Siemens MC 55 GPRSwireless module, and debugged them successfully.④Established an Expert System to distinguish the meter status.⑤Designed the software framework of remote supervising, computer, the wirelessgateway and flow meters in fields. This dissertation also put the IAP updatetechnology into flow meter maintenance fields.
