Pile and soil which work together as a system are applied in the engineering practice of civil engineering and hydraulic engineering , and this problem is also one of the typical contact topics. Due to highly non-linear characteristic and complex mechanics performance of contact problem, numerical simulation to this problem is one of the difficulties in numerical computation method. And in pile engineering it is always concerned about settling volume, the permitted bearing capacity and the distribution of friction resistance at the lateral pile. This paper deeply discusses these problems based on the numerical method.Firstly , this paper summarizes the general situation of the study of contact problem and the research actuality of pile-soil contact topics , and elaborates the basic principle of contact finite elements method and non-linear elastic-plastic theory , furthermore , emphasizes the derivation procedure of basic finite elements equation of penalty method.Secondly,based on software ABAQUS,this paper elaborates mostly some critical factors during the contact analysis of pile-soil, such as element types, contact pair, contact property, algorithm , convergence, and so on , and refers to example analysis ,discusses the method to simulate initial crustal stress field and to ascertain the permitted bearing capacity and settling volume of single pile, then sees about the distribution of friction resistance at the lateral pile and supporting resistance at the bottom pile. The example verification indicates that the contact model based on penalty method in this paper can represent the mechanical characteristics of pile-soil contact, and this method has some use value.Lastly, refered to the pile design fruit of GuanHe Culvert in LianYungang dredged haven and sea-route combined with water conveyance engineering, this paper checks and contrasts with the fruit that resulted from contact finite element method.
