Study On Plants Landscape In Exterior Space

Landscape design aims on producing space. As the most basic constructive element in garden, garden plants, which are the most changeable and the only one element alive in space against other constructive elements such as hills, water, and architectures, take irreplaceable vital role in making exterior space. Plants are very good formative materials for their three-dimensional and entitative properties, and take part in scenic zone partition, scenery embellishment and landscape spacial arrangement.Based on an extensive literature and cases analysis, and the on-the-spot investigation and designs on landscape plants, planting arrangement and space, the theory of plants landscape in exterior space was systematically discussed.In order to understand the theory of plants landscape in exterior space easily, some conceptions were defined firstly for definitude the investigative category and direction. The significance and necessity about this study were discussed here as well after introduction of general development of landscape plant arrangement and plant space theories.The characteristic of the space was determined by that of space-making elements. And the characteristic of plant space was determined by that of landscape plants, including size, plant shape, leaf shape, color and texture etc. Based on these characteristics and"the vertical plane method", we can design the basic plant scenic, which was the foundation of plant space arrangement.A deep and careful analysis on the classification, form and effect in plant space arrangement which constructed plants spaces'theory, was inclusive here. The space was classified with close space, half-close space and open space. And furthermore, based on illustration on instauration, roof, ground and surrounding which construct the planting space, the ways on how we can use these to make abundance spacial environment were discussed. Planting spacial effects were general valued on each element to producing space, and classified and summarized from the form of point (block), line and area. A great deal of representative depicted inland and overseas cases provided a full and accurate theoretic for practices.Finally, three practice cases of Guangdong Chaozhou west lake gym and rest section planning, the front section planning of Henan Xinfei auto garden, Henan female prison Guiju plaza design were analyzed in landscape layout, plant arrangement and plant space to combine the practice and theory about plant arrangement for making a better plant landscape.This thesis can be as basic theories materials for the design of landscape plants'exterior space and be as academic exchange materials of how unify theories and practices and make modern plant space.
