Characteristic analysis of ocean ambient noise vector field is useful on many aspects, including the measurement of noise radiated from quiet submarine, signal detection, great improvement of the anti-interference ability for equipment and the gain in instrumentation system. At the same time, it is also very important to the optimum design of hydrophone array and the deployment of ocean ambient noise measurement device.After studying the basic theory of ocean ambient noise and vector hydrophone, a measuring and storing device for ocean ambient noise is designed, based on vector hydrophone. Designs of the device include a mechanical structure, a frame diagram of circuit inside the shell, principle of component selecting, and the workflow for the measurement device. The design of the mechanical structure of the measurement device includes ways of fixing vector hydrophone and shell, and structure of internal shell. Meanwhile, design the ambient noise measurement system and scheme the experiment of ambient noise measurement.By deductions of theory and simulations of algorithms, analyzing software is realized at last, by which all physical quantities can be conveniently calculated. These physical quantities can reflect and be used to conclude the characteristics of ocean ambient noise vector field, including the coherent coefficient, phase spectrum and spectral density which are between ocean ambient noise pressure and any one or any two of the three orthogonal components of vibration velocity, the direction of ocean ambient noise sources whose frequency is in the specified frequency range, and the ocean ambient noise's pressure level. By means of analyzing those physical quantities calculated in different condition, concluding the statistic characteristics of ocean ambient noise vector field and their variety with different measurement condition.
