High speed maglev transportation system is a new type of transportation system on railway track. High speed maglev train is suspended on track by electromagnetism gravitation or electromotion repulsion. It is drived by long stator linear synchronous motor(LSM). It has some advanrages such as no touching movement, high speed, start-up quickly, low energy consumption, small environmental effectl and so on, so many researches on the maglev train have been conducted comprehensively in the world. Going with the introduction of demonstration operation line of maglev train in Shanghai, researches of maglev technology are developing quikely. As using long stator LSM to propel the maglev train is one of the key technologies of high speed maglev train, the study of control mode which is suitable for long stator LSM has practical significance in promoting the development of high speed maglev transportation system.Firstly, the analysis of aquivalent circuit of long stator LSM is conducted and propel of long stator LSM is deduced. Then the principle of vector control and the direct torque control is introduced. The vector control is selected as the control mode of long stator LSM in terms of the dual function of long stator LSM According to the characteristic of the high speed maglev system and the demand of the vector control, the magnetic pole angle information which is needed to the vector control is processed through three methods under the different running rate of the maglev train. When maglev train run at low speed, the entire magnetic pole angle curve is completed by using linear interpolation method. The data points used in linear interpolation are gained through sensor. At high speed, thispaper presents a novol sensorless vector control strategy-the estimate methodbased on the extended electromotive force in the rotating reference. When the speed is between high and low, magnetic pole angle estimated by observer is adjusted by the magnetic pole angle which is gained through sensor. Three running stage are simulated by using the MATLAB simulation tool above the foundation of theoretical analysis of three method. The simulation result has proven that above-mentioned methods are feasible. Finally, Influence of paraments to estimate method is simulated.
