Traction power supply system plays an important role in supplying power to the locomotive used in electrified railway transportation. If a fault rises, the transport stabilization may be thrown into confusion, and it will lead to tremendous economic loss and bad social influence. Traction power supply system should be safe, steady, effective and continuous,so it is very important to improve the system's security and reliability. This paper puts the theory of feeder automation of distribution network into traction power supply system, and puts forward the concept of automation of fault separation and supply restoration in traction power supply system. It can be a complement to the current relay protection and automatic system used in traction power supply system. When a faulty rises,through the coordination of protection and measure-control devices in traction substation, AT substation and section post, it can control the relevant breakers and switchers to realize fast fault separation and auto system-regroup to restore power supply, limit the range of faulty, minimize the time for supply restoration, reduce losses and improve the level of operation and automation.Firstly, the paper introduces the current High Speed Railway traction power supply system and its fault separation and supply restoration pattern, then puts forward the concept of automation of fault separation and supply restoration in traction power supply system, and then discusses its realization. Secondly, the automation of fault separation and restoration in the condition of conventional fault is studied. A new method of standby automatic switch on the basis of substation integrated automation system and its network technology is discussed, and a new protection and control scheme of feeder is proposed. Thirdly, taking the all-parallel AT traction system, which was used in Jing-Jin High Speed Railway, as study object, the scheme of automation system of fault separation and supply restoration in the situation of breaker failure is analyzed, and the basic conditions of implementing the automation system are pionted out.
