The sanitary ware is a infant product system, seperating from the bathroom products.As the fast developing pace of economy, the improvement of living standard and the update life style, people's needs of sanitary wares have been changed from the single cleaning function to the diversified requirements for the products'human-based design, aethetic appearance and intelligent function and so on. The change of the sanitary wares function is the motive force of designing the products, it shows that the age of sanitary wares design is coming. The sanitary ware is transiting from the functioning to aesthetic features.I. The summary of sanitary ware1.1 The definition of sanitary wareThe sanitary ware is a borrowed word, people call them cleaning equipment, firstly appeared on the foreign steamboat in Shanghai in the middle of 19th century. It was producted in Tangshan after 1949, but developed slowly untill the policy of reform and opening-up to the outside world be carried out in 1980. The sanitary ware (or cleaning equipment) is that the bathroom procduct used for bathing,draining and some other functions like that. The current sanitary ware has changed from the functional product to aesthetic ones. Although it has many kinds of products, all together require it to have a smooth surface, be waterproof, be wear resistant, and bear hot and cold, easy to be cleaned and be durable and so on. It is not only used in the nomal bathroom, but become to be a independent product system which exist independently according to different functions. Therefore the terms of sanitary ware should be defined as followings:(1) Clean: it means that there is no dust and dirt ,as well as basic cleaning and washing hands in the daily life;(2) Bath: to have a bath, it means to be lubricated or immerse in some environment.(3) Recreation: It means some certain state of life, one is the life ambience, and another is called recreation. Those two state could be exchanged depending on the situation.(4) Health care: to protect the health.1.2 Analysis of the domectic and international market of sanitary wareChina is a major producer and consumer of sanitary ware. Although the manufacture started in the 1920s, it began at a comparatively late date comparing to the whole international market. The modern sanitary ware was produced in recent 20 years, and the real development of this industry is in last decade. From this point of view, the sanitary wares industry is a new one in our country. Along with the reforms of cities and towns, the deepening development of real estate, the sanitary ware industry enters a golden period of development , and more and more chinaware company join in this industry. The industry scale is being expanded rapidly, showing a prosperity never seen before.The international maket develop fast in recent years. After late hundred yeares'progress, the foreign sanitary ware industry earlier produced the productions in two styles, are the European style maily with simple lines and design and American style showing grace and beauty. It becoming mature gradually in the industrial technology, design techniques and cultural connotation of products. What is attracting the people's attention is that they find out the aesthetic innovation of the product is the main method to communicate with comsumers after the phenomena of"the taste congregation"appears in habitation culture of American and European cities. They distinguish the different consumer group according to the cultural and mental needs, and plant the science and technology, humanity into the design to form different brand concept. II. The use function of sanitary waresThe starting point of sanitary wares design is its use fuction, and it is also what the consumers'buy . The sanitary wares is the carrier of itselves and the way to fulfill its fuctions. Therefore, firstly to put the evaluation angle of sanitary wares design onto the ways of fulfilling its fuctions. Abstracting the product and its composing parts into the fuctions and defining them by using the fuctional analysis of value project.After the fucntions are defined, we still need to clean up and evaluate the functions that have been defined.Classifying and cleaning up the functions is analysing and estimating all kinds of functions what have been defined. In order to cut down the cost we should know the importance of the functions and finding out the inner relations among the functions, and strengthen the necessary functions, meanwhile delete the unnecessary ones. For example, the sitting w.c pan with a sound box will be found that the function of sound box is secondary with the abuse of short circuit and noise, it may raise the cost, for those reasons, this should be deleted from the design.After classifying and cleaning up the functions, we should evaluating its functions in order tp lay a foundation for creating new ways fulfilling the functions and designing the appearance of the product.III. The appearance of product is the carrier of its fuctions, which including integrated factors like the shape, color, quality effect ,etc that conposing the beautity of appearance. In the current days that the science and technology develop increasingly, the people's needs for product fuction change fast, but which not change is to pursue the product's visual symbol meaning and beauty which is novel and fashionable.Many functions of the sanitary wares are embodied by the appearance design.3.2 The visual feeling of the sanitary product----colourThe color and the sculpt are the style language.For the reason that in our minds there is a ideal state of any product need to be searched, how to find out the proper color for the product is as important as the style design. The color of product design is not isolated, its speciality is different from the color in drawing or plane design. The color of product is mainly influnced by material, envionment and the consumers.3.3 The delicate embodiment of sanitary ware product----texture specialityThe quality of product includes excellent design, exquisite technics and efficient use of the good materials. Firstly, the excellent design is mainly embodied by the external appearance design and structure design. Secondly, the exquisite technics depend on the excellent design, but the industrial designer are supposed not to design only in the designing room , he should go and visit the product line to find out the making process of the product and mold. Knowing the making process of product, many problems of which cannot be settled in design formerly will become easier to be settled probably after the new technic come out, otherwise, using the good materials efficiently is the important condition of guaranteing the product quality. The good material is not equal to expensive material. The designer can guarantee good material of product with the lowest cost under the condition of satisfying the fuction.IV.The substance technique factor of sanitary ware product4.1 The substance is the basis of designThe substance is the material basis of product design, which showing the quliaty.
