The conservation and study of heritages of historical buildings should be done not only by paying more attention to the tangible cultural heritage such as a single building, a historical block, etc., but also by paying more attention to the intangible cultural heritage nearby. The tangible cultural heritage and the intangible cultural heritage influenced each other. It is the best way for analyzing and studying in these fields to connect both of them organically . Only in such way the conservation and study of historical buildings will have a intact meaning.The guild hall appeared in Ming & Qing Dynasty, because of the rapid envelopment of commodity economy and the changes of social politic and culture; it is an important component of the social multi-culture. As a civil important public building in Ming & Qing Dynasty, it reflected the local social, political, economic, culture and life style. So the guildhall is a best real object witness for studying the culture and history in particular time and space.Southern Shan Xi is located in the intermediate zone of north and south of our country. Along with the extensive immigrant and the great development of social commodity economy of in Ming & Qing Dynasty, a large number of guild halls appeared here. These guild halls are not only the representation of architectural art, but also the important carrier of the south town's social culture in Southern Shan Xi. Shuhe town is a important commercial place of the south area of Shan Xi in the period of Ming & Qing. Guildhall buildings and intangible cultural heritage in Shuhe town are Selected as the research object of this paper, and the work of this paper is to do an tentatively exploration of the conservation and study by connecting both of the heritage structure and intangible culture heritage. The aim of this paper is to offer a comparatively detailed reference material for the research of the guildhall building and social culture of Southern Shan Xi in the future.This paper summarized the guildhall Origin, development, function, architectural art, folk custom, folk art forms and the influences on each other, expecting that understandings of this kind of public buildings will be getting better and protection consciousness of historical cultural heritages (including the tangible and intangible) will be strengthened. Finally, there are some suggestions of conservation and utilization of the guild hall building and the intangible cultural heritage (such as the folk custom, ballad singing) nearby.
