Industrial design has been regarded as a method of commercial since The Industrial Revolution. Although it realized the profits of enterprises to the maximum, it separated the social relation inhumanly because it made the product principal. The neoteric mode and useful function are no longer the only demands of the individuals, people want to acquire knowledge and exchange feelings through the product. The designer is induced to consider how to combine the modern technology with spiritual needs according to the new requirements and pursue the diversified product of applicative function, aesthetic function, symbolic function and the function of cultural transmission.A research approach of The Product Semantics is adopted in this dissertation for solving the contradiction of demands for the product which is caused by the traditional sense of value through the HEJ (Harmonization-Easement-Joviality) study of the environment of Tang Paradise and the station wagon.Main work includes:1. Seeking the cause of the trouble with the integration of modern product and traditional culture, analyzing the experience of inheriting the tradition from home and abroad, and listing the current problem.2. Talking the relationship between the demands for the product and the formation of the sense of value, summing the changeable features of the demand for the product periodically. Use the developing view to explore the trend of future product.3. Uniting the environment of Chinese classical garden with the current demands of the station wagon, studying Chinese traditional culture deeply and summing the regional and universal Chinese traditional sense of value.4. Spotting the HEJ contradiction which comes from the traditional values as the guide of modern industrial design and searching for solutions. 5. Building a customer model which fits Tang Paradise, analyzing the station wagons' HEJ purpose, testing the research results through starting the factual plan.6. Summing the research results objectively and making a brief explanation of the unfinished work.The dissertation made a description of the impact and direction to demands for the product by the sense of value, advocated that industrial design should be combined with study of values and a designed route of upgrading the quality and style of life.
