Study On Restructuring Of Truck Fleet Composition In Yunnan Province

Taking a view of the present status of freight transport, road network, other modes of transport and the whole economy development of Yunnan province, the thesis analyzes the present status of truck fleet composition in this province and points out the problems of the composition and their causes based on plenty of data of this region.In order to approach to the optimal truck fleet composition, the thesis mainly carries out four phases of analyses which are the analyses for main categories of freight, truck applicability and comparison of different types of trucks for operation cost, studies for truck fleet composition and its development tendency both in advanced regions of China and in some developed countries.According to the specific situation and environment of Yunnan province, the paper proposes the restructuring target of truck fleet composition for the year of 2010. The circular ratio for the loading capacities of light, medium, light-heavy, heavy-heavy of trucks is 18:10:32:40. The proportions of the four classes of trucks in the total transport capacity will increase 11%, -14%, -38% and 99% respectively and points out the development trend to the two poles of the truck fleet composition. Besides the target above this paper emphasizes that special trucks should be taken into the restructuring of the truck fleet composition. The paper also proposes some policy suggestions corresponding with truck fleet composition solution according to the present situation of the trucking industry.As for the study methodology, this paper mainly uses analytics and induction besides quantitative analysis method for the trucks operation cost and reference to the level of truck fleet composition in some developed countries. First of all, the thesis divides the freight to four categories according to the characteristics of Yunnan's economy and geography. And then the transport characteristics of the 4 categories of freight are analyzed, the applicability of different classes of trucks is reviewed and the comparison for the truck operation cost is carried out. Finally, this paper proposes a practical restructuring target of truck fleet composition for the year of 2010 for Yunnan province based on the weighing of turnover volume of 4 categories of freight.
