The principle causing unloading voltage in automobile is described in detail in this paper and the corresponding calculating formula is derived according to the theory. .This paper analyzes forming process of unloading voltage and the relations among unloading voltage, phase electromotive force, exciting current and rotational speed in an alternator. The unloading voltage in auto alternator has two parts which are produced by stator coils .One part of this voltage with short continuance and small harm is a self-induced electromotive force produced by a sudden changing lord current. The other part with long continuance and large harm is a rectification voltage of an induced electromotive force in stator coils induced by magnetic field in field coils. At last calculating formulas for unloading voltage with a saturated magnetic circuit and a unsaturated magnetic circuit arederived, and some analyzing examples are given.The experiments show that the results coincide well with the calculation.
