For mechanical seal's equipment, the friclion heat between mechanical seal rings may result in dry fliction or a bigger temperature gradient which should produce greater thermal stresses and even hot crack , which influenced the whole sealing performance seriously . Because the parameter on sealing performance was difficult to calculate accurately by traditional theory ,the system model of calculating meachanical sealing performance was needed urgently . In this paper Based on ANSYS software and combined with the theory trends on mechanical sealing performance ,the systematic finite element model of analyzing sealing performance from two respects: coupling of thermal—structural stable state and flowing field had been set up in this paper ,and the teperatural field, thermal stress and flowing field were studied .Firstly ,seal ring can be simplified as two axisymmetric indepent models ,and the finite element method is used to solve the problem of the temperature field and stress field of seal ring . After building up the physical model of the ring ,the axisymmetric finite element formulas has been derived , and thermal boundary conditions has also been given . The distribution of the temperature field and the stress field of seal rings has been given by means of finite element analysis .Secondly, preventing leakis essential thing for mechanical seal's equipment ,the calculating of leak mersuring is very important. In analyzing of flowing field, the ANSYS software is used to build up the physical model and boundary conditions has also been given. The distribution of the flowing field and the volecity field of liquid film on seal face has been given by means of finite element analysls, which is guidace and realistic sense to design and make mechanical seal.
