At present, the control systems of astronomical telescopes made in China often are hand-control or half hand-control styles, it's not convenient to operate for people. An operator who wants to operate these astronomical telescopes must be a specialist. So it is necessary to study and design an intelligent control system for an astronomical telescope. In this dissertation a new automatic control system will be designed based on computer control technology and correlative knowledge on astronomy to make up for the limitation of the current control systems. The intelligent astronomical telescope is driven by a stepping motor, and operated on the base of time-angle coordinate system (namely, The first equator coordination system, which includes time-angle (t) and equator-latitude(δ)). In this system, the hardware and control software are design.In this dissertation, the inside structure, serial communication, high speed outputs(HSO) and inputs/outputs(I/O) of the microprocessor chip 80C196KC are presented, and the hardware circuits, including the power circuit, keyboard control circuit, the interface circuit connecting the microprocessor and PC and the executive devices are designed. The hardware anti-interference circuit is also concerned in this dissertation.On the basis of the hardware circuits design , two softwares are established. The first software, which is drawn up using DELPHI, running on the platform of PC, including the man-machine operating interface, database for the stars, fuzzy algorithm and the serial communication to connect the microprocessor. The other one is drawn up by assemble instructions in MCS-96 format, running in the microprocessor chip, is used to find star, trace star and serial communication function, including main program module, serial communication model, data process module, hand-control module, Up-Down frequency control module of a stepping motor, the timer module of HSO and anti-interference module for software.PC is the mediate between operator and the devices. This is a high intelligent control system that owns a good interface to operate easily, and it can be used to find star automatically, trace dynamically, and it can also transfer, filtrate, process, exchange and display great information in real time,In the end, a new control system of astronomical telescope is designed. It indicates that this is a very good system with several features such as quickly location, high precision, repetition, high reliability and easy to operate. It can be used in a real astronomical telescope.
