Some wind ductworks are needed to expend on volume capacity in practical engineering. So in this paper, the 3-D numerical simulation of G4-73â„–8D centrifugal fan and five other impellers with different splitter blades installed are carried out with Numeca basing on the S-A model in order to investigate the flow field inside the blade wheel, and the best relatively position is put forward. In the end, the contrast experiments are carried out between the impellers without and with splitter blades. Results of numerical simulation and experiments show that the inner flow field becomes uniformity and the jet-wake flow ameliorates, when the impeller is installed with splitter blades. Results also show that the total pressure improves by about 5.9%, when the fan load is more than 48%. This study results have some value reference on the volume expanding of the similar types of fans.
