Presently, concerning the seepage field and stress field research for concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD), the two factors, seepsge and stress, are calculated respectively in general and seldom considered together, although they can influence each other in fact. As for the seepage analysis, supposing that the seepage characteristic of rockfill is isotropic, it dose not accord with the fact that, for adopting vibration roll methods in CFRD's construction, the seepage characteristics in horizontal and vertical have great differences which shows its orthotropic. Rockfill's constitutive model closely relates to the stress deformation in analysis reliability and calculation precision. Although general softwares have many advantages such as integrated function, fast speed, good astringency, strong versatility and so on, they do not include Duncan-Chang E-B constitutive model, which is suitable to rockfill. Therefore, it is a matter on how introduce this special model into general software in finite element to meet with the requirement of stress deformation analysis in 3D for CFRD.Based on Darcy law, this paper systemically expounds finite element calculation principle in seepage considering rockfill's orthotropic characteristic. Compareing seepage field and temperature field in calculation principle, it reasons and then brings forward an essential approach to seepage analysis by general software's thermal analysis model, and sets a certain CFRD as an example to carry through its seepage analysis based on the above model. Through the secondary development flat of the general software, it adds E-B constitutive model to general software's material storeroom and then acquires the effective approach to stress deformation analysis in 3D for CFRD by this software. Taking rockfill's porosity as bridge, it deduces the mathematical expression about permeability coefficient of porous medium and its volume strain, and establishes the coupling model about permeability coefficient of porous medium and stress field. Finally, based on above research production, it combines the GONGBOXIA CFRD and analyses its 3D's seepage and stess distribution and diversification rules in the case of considering their coupling influence or not, and contrasts this outcome with the actual one.The research features in this paper are as follows: considering rockfill's orthotropy in seepage analysis for CFRD, introducing E-B constitutive model into general software, founding the coupling analysis model of seepage field and stress field based on FEM.The research method and outcome in this paper have significant reference vuale and practical value in the case of solving similar project.
