This research is one of the most important parts of the national 863 high tech project–"Robot and Detection technology in seabed oil pipeline". The main task of the project is to develop an intellgent system which will be used for in-line inspection of seabed oil pipelines. This thesis introduces the ultrasonic detection principle briefly and analyzes the system technology parameters, then designs a special ultrasonic probe and sensor array for the testing by theoratical calculation and analysis.The thesis introduces several ordinary nondestructive testing methods and compares the advantages and disadvantages of eddy current testing, magnetic flux leakage testing and ultrasonic testing. Then, ultrosonic testing is selected for the inside-inspection of seabed oil pipelines and the principle of ultrasonic testing and its field application are introduced.In the thesis, to detect the oil pipeline with inside and outside diameter of 297mm and 325mm, acoustic field of various ultrasonic probes is analyzed for...
