In the last twenty years, monitoring technique develop rapidly and have improved greatly for hydraulic power plants. In order to have a sensible distribution, it is made special demand for monitoring system of pumped storage plants. Supervisory and control information of pumped storage plants is much more complex than hydraulic power plants. It was proved that pumped storage plants had made a great role on system voltage stabilization. So the research on AVC has magnificent significance.This article has made researches on pumped storage plants' supervisory and control firstly. Special control request for pumped storage plants has been discussed, it should be noted that Network technology and supervisory and control software has been mentioned, during the introduction of automation system. Domestic issues of computer supervisory and control for pumped power plants are discussed.The article is about pumped storage plants' reactive Power optimal distribution, on the basis of definition of and considering the task of reactive Power optimal distribution, the author analyze and compare traditional algorithm, equal loss increase ratio algorithm and genetic algorithm to settle the problem. An improved genetic algorithm is put forward in optimal reactive power dispatching for automatic voltage control of pumped power plants. Not only the voltage on high voltage buses is adjusted, but also reactive power is the most preference distribute. Its speed and accuracy satisfy the request of pumped power plants' safety and economic question.
