As the important role played by the pumped storage power station in power grid is recognized deeply, our country is entering to a fast construction stage for developing pumped storage power station. However, most of pumped storage units governors are imported from abroad nowadays, that is why studying a real-time simulation system for pumped-storage regulation system is quite necessary.With PCC (Programmable Computer Controller) as the hardware platform and C language programming, a mathematical model of pumped storage unit is established and a simulation and test system for it is developed. The system consists of B&R2003 system, PowerPanel PP120 , and PC with corresponding software, realizing the real-time simulation, field test and data analysis for test objectives of the hydraulic turbine. Combined with the microprocessor-based governor of pumped storage unit and applied practical parameters of a real power station, tests are carried out for verification. Results show that the system improves the real-time performance and reliability of data acquisition and transmission, providing a rapid and precise control of the governing system for pumped storage unit.
