Pumping station forbay is an important part of pumping station ,and the hydraulic characteristic of the pumping station forbay has a direct influence on the efficiency of a pump. The efficiency of the pump unit can be uprated in the condition of well flow condition. In some cases, specially in city , because the occupied area of the urban sewage pumping station is usually limited, the length of the forbay is inclined to be short and the diffusion angle in flow direction is big accordingly, which cause bad flow pattern ,such as backflows, vortices, etc. The hydraulic characteristic caused by those bad flow conditions can not meet the condition , which pumps run in the term of the high efficiency and safety ,so that it affect pump working performance . By engineering of measures, forbay flow guidelines reach a reasonably flow conditions. In this disquisition we do some studies based on the forbay of the project of Xinchangping pumping station. With the development of the mathematical solutions on hydrodynamics and the computer hardware, there is a considerable progress in the research of the tridimensional turbulence field within the pumping stations forbay; For the future ,one of the hydraulics development is how to combine the computing fluid mechanics with hydraulics. Based from Navier-Stokes equations, the volume of lid assuming method to slove the free surface is introduced to the RNG k — ε turbulent model. The 3-D turbulent model based on unstructured mesh is established in the paper. The results of the numerical simulating on the forbay hydraulic characteristic in the term of primary design agree with the test ones. Based on the reasonable results , the engineering means are put forward; then numerical computation and...
