Velocity and pressure distribution in hydrocyclone are first analyzed in this paper from a beginning of the research of the regulation of fluid flow. The necessary assumption was employed to simplify the problem.Influence factor of the separation efficiency was analyzed. The result indicates that the flow split F is very important. A high F value under a high inlet concentration will increase the separation efficiency. But there will be a cost in increasing the granularity. This result was proved with the commercial CFD software and the former experiment results.The commercial CFD software Fluent 6.1 was employed to simulate the inner flow field of hydrocyclone and the velocity field and pressure field were researched. The result indicates that RSM turbulent model can give a well prediction.According to the simulation result, it can be seen that: at the beginning, the solid particles trend to move to the wall of the hydrocyclone at the strong departure force, due to the decline of the departure force near wall, the particles start to sedimentation to the bottom of the hydrocyclone, so a separation behavior has took placed.
