With the appearance of large-span and complex-shape buildings, wind load plays a more and more important role. It is very important to improve the study of wind load. At present, field measurement, wind tunnel test and numerical simulation are the three major methods to study the distribution of the wind pressure on the buildings. Field measurement is the most direct method, but it is time consuming, costly, and this method can not predict the flow-field before the building is erected completely. As the most important method, there are many shortcomings for wind tunnel test also, such as hard work and weak adaptability. Comparatively, using the method of Computational Fluid Dynamic to simulate the flow-field around the buildings on computer has many advantages.In this artic, the principal theories and basic characters of flow around bluff body were summarized, also the principal equations of numerical simulation were deduced, and the simulation of turbulence, the closure problem of equations were discussed subsequently. By simulating the mean wind pressure of a typical building whose wind tunnel test was conducted in Texas Tech University, this artic summarized the principal and methods of how to decide the flow area, grid, boundary conditions, turbulence model and calculation parameters, and then, the C program of mean wind section plane, turbulence kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation rate were compiled, the flow-field around the WuHan Sports-Center's Diving Room was simulated, the mean wind pressure shape factor were compared with the result of wind tunnel test, and the distribution of flow field was analyzed in detail. The conclusion is that the result of numerical simulation and wind tunnel test is similar in some extend; the method of CFD can describe the flow-field around bluff body, using this method to predict the mean wind pressure on large-span and complex-shape buildings is feasible.
