With the development of our national economy and the improvement of people's living standard in recent years, the transportation industry has developed rapidly and the demand of the socio-economy development for the transportation will be higher. With the implement of the "Rising of Mid-China" strategy and the "Wuhan urban circle construction" strategy, the highway construction has advanced rapidly and the highway classification and the overall level of highway network has improved continuously in Hubei, in order to meet the need of the regional transportation integration construction. Because the HR project is the complementary and consummated section of the provincial skeleton of highway network and it can optimize the national highway and can link up the national main highways and other highways, so the construction of HR project is imperative under the present situation. The traffic volume prediction is one of the important parts in highway planning and construction is the main parameter to determine the technical classification, the scale of project and the economic evaluation and is the important reference in decision-making of highway construction. This article studies on the traffic prediction of the HR project.The HR freeway links up many major tourist scenic spots in our country and taking on the tourism traffic is one of its important functions. The tourism traffic volume prediction is a new problem which the transportation industry and the tourism industry have being studied on cooperatively in recent years, and which has the important significance to the tourism and transportation planning. Studying on the tourism traffic volume prediction methods is not only beneficial to improve the quality of tourism transportation services, but also has the great significance to the scientific and rational planning, building and improving the tourism transportation system and the development of regional tourism-related industries.
