Imaging spectrometer and its Modulation Depth are studied in this thesis, including:In the first chapter, the basic principles of the imaging spectrometers and Fourier Transform Imaging Spectrometer are introduced. The concept of the Modulation Depth is introduced, and the criterions of the Modulation Depth are given. In the second chapter, the principles of the temporarily modulated and the spatially modulated Fourier Transform Imaging Spectrometers are concluded. In the third chapter, the basic principles and the Modulation Depth of the Michelson, the Fabry-Perot, the Sagnac spatially modulated, the birefringence, the Lloyd spatially modulated and the Fresnel spatially modulated Fourier Transform Imaging Spectrometer are studied and analyzed. The formulas of the Modulation Depth and the parameters which mostly affect the Modulation Depth are concluded, and the approximate ranges of the parameters are given. In the fourth chapter, a new kind of mix-modulated imaging spectrometers is introduced. The representative imaging spectrometers are the Large Aperture Stationary Imaging Spectrometer (LASIS) and the High Etendue Imaging Fourier Transform Spectrometer (HEIFTS). The HEIFTS is based on the modified Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The formulas of the Modulation Depth of the two kind spectrometers are calculated. The optical path difference of HEIFTS is given. The parameters which mostly affect the Modulation Depth of HEIFTS are analyzed. The technical considerations of parameters of HEIFTS are concluded. In the end, these Degrees of the Modulation are compared and the conclusion is given.
