Automobile testing technology has been a difficult topic since the naissance of automobile manufacturing. Together with more and more requirements against motility, economy, environment friendliness and comfort from the automobile market, the automobile electronic technology has been developing at a high speed, which has made the quality testing technology of automobile electronic system more and more important in the automobile testing technology. And following with the rapid development of the Chinese auto market and the value content increasing of the auto electronic, the auto electronic testing technology has become increasingly complex.With the globalization of automobile design and manufacture, auto manufacturers have gradually realized the difficulties at auto electronic testing. In which the development of electronic element, the introduction of electronic control unit (ECU), the application of all kinds of bus communication agreement on all the electrical systems of an auto and the necessity of working out relevant diagnosing and testing technology during the researching and developing of a controller are involved.A complex auto testing system always needs a synergism of variousmeasuring and controlling tasks. Therefore a hardware synchronizing platform for integration becomes extra important. The demand of a constant renewing of a production line can not be met. And it is expected that the period of market launch of a product can be shortened. The increasing renewal of auto electronic products request that the testing system meet the new requirement as fast as possible. At present, the updating period of a national special testing system is relative long, which can not meet the frequently and rapidly changing testing requirements. Nowadays, auto manufacturers produce the same model of various types. What's more, their production plan often comes to a change according to the situation of orders and logistics. If one special testing equipment should be used for only one type, the reuse rate of such equipment and the investment efficiency will be largely lowered. The production scope of the Chinese automobile manufacturers has become larger and larger. Now, the national big auto manufacturers have an output of over 1000 units per day. For a production of such size a set of testing process and testing system must be worked out in order to control the quality of the auto electronic system as well as to realize the long-standing and heavy-loaded production.FAW-VW will build up a production capacity of 60000 with the integration of Audi A6. This model is equipped with the most advanced automobile electronic technology, which needs a set of automobile electronic testing system in order that an effective and liable electronic system quality testing can be assured.Based on the principle of introduction, digestion, absorption and recreation, this paper has deeply and systematically studied the electronicsystem quality testing technology within the testing system of automobile quality, and the structure, the testing methods and error diagnose etc. in detail as well. So that an electronic quality testing system for Audi A6 has been successfully introduced and improved.In this paper, the electronic system quality testing technology of Audi A6 has been studied. Through the study, the introduction, the optimization and the improvement of this system have been accomplished.(1) With consideration of the testing process from Audi A6 and the actual situation of a mixed production in China, an online quality testing process for the electronic system of Audi A6 has been defined. It mainly consists of electronic adapting on the preassembly line, electronic adapting of the auto controller, testing of electronic functions, Achsegeometrie, testing of brake system, testing of motor adjustment and emission, information collecting before and after the road test, and the light testing. With such a process, the problem that the intensive testing items and the too long testing time can not meet the requirement of a production with conveyor system of large scale has been solved.(2) The communication technology with CAN bus and the agreement of KWP 2000 has been applied as the communication basis for a testing system. And the usage of a communication model of electronic system diagnose has been proposed. So that an effective, rapid and accurate testing has been realized.(3) By the analysis and the summarization of the bus technology, the order oriented production, the self-diagnose technology and so on ofAudi A6, a new online electronic system quality testing process has been worked out, so that the process quality control of electronic system for Audi A6 has been solved.(4) With the car information sharing between the electronic testing system and the Fertigung-Information-System, the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and the Produkt-Daten-System, a testing of multifunction, high efficiency and compatibility has been built up.(5) After digesting and understanding the frame structure of the testing system from other manufacturers, the frame structure of the electronic testing system for Audi A6 has been defined. With this system, an online process quality tracking has been enabled.(6) The hardware of the LAN system and the testing system have been integrated together, and the hardware select for the electronic testing system for Audi A6 has been finished. So the working stability of the testing system has been guaranteed.(7) In accordance with the function of various testing modules, process locations, and requirement about the interaction between human and machine, the design specifications for the testing system software have been defined.(8) With a comprehensive consideration about the electronic quality requirements for Audi A6, a flow chart of error diagnose and maintenance has been given. So that an effective control of the electronic system quality for Audi A6 has been assured.(9) After a summarization of the requirements from all departments, a process of data processing has been constructed. This process has effectively supported the track of quality problem and the constant improvement.The electronic testing system mentioned in this paper has tested over 100,000 cars since it's application in the production with a high quality. With this system, the requirements of a large scale production line have been fulfilled. All the cars sell to the clients have never met a quality accident. So that it has contributed to the image of the brand Audi A6 as a premium business car.
