| With traffic increasing, vehicular size is bigger and overloading is more serious. All of these reasons make asphalt road surface be destroyed. Therefore, it needs asphalt and asphalt mix to have the corresponding performance. Generic asphalt can't satisfy. To resolve the problem, the performance of asphalt must be improved.The dissertation relies on the project of Study on Application of Diatomite-modified Asphalt. The physical and chemical characteristics of diatomite, the characters of diatomite-modified asphalt and diatomite-modified asphalt mix are studied in the paper. The paper is composed of six chapters. Chapter Two, Three, Four and Five are the focus in the paper, with Chapter Three and Four as the crux. The key parts of individual chapters are as follows:Chapter One Firstly, research background is introduced with the analysis of the destroy of the road surface and the indication of research intention and meaning of the paper. Then, domestic and overseas research achievements on the diatomite-modified asphalt are summarized. Finally, the contents of the paper are clarified.Chapter Two This chapter discusses the mineral resources distributing, mineral characteristic and manufactures method of diatomite, and analyses the difference between it as filling material or modified material for asphalt.Chapter Three The diatomite-modified asphalt is tested, the results are that penetration descends and softening point ascends. It is showed that the asphalt's performance at high temperature is improved. The different tests all obtain the same results. With PI increasing, the temperature susceptibility by diatomite decreases. The quality losses of the diatomite-modified asphalt reduce and penetration ratio augment show that the performance of antiaging enhances. The improved effects of different diatomite to the same asphalt are different; however, the improved effects of same diatomite to the different addition are different. Thus, it is a key that choosing the kind of diatomite and its addition.Chapter Four A series of laboratory tests of the diatomite modified asphalt mixtures were made. These included asphalt technical property, Marshall test, rutting test at high temperature, bend and split test at low temperature and freeze and thaw split test, bend fatigue test at room temperature. The results showed asphalt modified by diatomite can improve the performance of asphalt at high temperature and low temperature and antiaging performance, the diatomite modified asphalt mixtures increase resistance to fatigue cracking and rutting and low temperature cracking, and decrease moisture sensitive than unmodified asphaltmixture.Chapter Five Firstly, the construction technology of trail pavement is introduced. Then, observing and analyzing the trail road, the results get standard. It's worth being recommended to use.Chapter Six The obtained improvements and the innovative productions are summed up. The issues to be discussed further are put forward. |
