The bridge foundation position on high-steep slope has great effect on stability of slope and bridge; it also affects the technical index and cost of bridge. The mechanical behavior characteristics of rock mass of slope under load are the basis of bridge foundation position determining and slope stability analysis. Shou-Zhun railway in construction will span the Yellow River, and the bridge foundation locates on the limestone bank slope whose depth is 120 m. The change of bridge foundation position affects the bridge cost and bank slope stability strongly. In order to get the reasonable position of bridge foundation, stability analysis on slope under natural state and after building bridge are carried out by numerical analysis method, and the reasonable position of bridge foundation is determined, which can offer reference for the similar bridge foundation position determining of high-steep slope.Firstly, field survey and analysis on natural bank slope stability of the Yellow River Bridge are carried out. Failure mode of bank slope is obtained. The results show that some rock falling may occur on top of slope because of weathering and gravity under natural state. But the bank slopes are stable in the whole. The bridge foundation positions and stable slope angle are put forward using formulas of bridge foundation determining. The deformation and failure mode of rock slope is analyzed by DEM, and the result shows that natural stable slope angle is reasonable and bridge built in the stable slope angle is safe. The results of mechanical behaviors analysis of bank slope rock mass by FEM show that when bridge foundation is built in stable slope angle, the influence of bridge load on rock mass stress is too little to affect the whole stability of slope and safety of bridge foundation. Bank slope displacements caused by load also has little influence on the safety of slope and bridge foundation. Finally, the rock mass strengths of both banks at different bridge positions are analyzed by strength theory, and the results show that rock mass of bank slope under design load meets the demand of strength and only protection of the rock mass on thetop of slope is needed.The bridge foundation is determined synthetically and bridge foundation position design of high slope and stability analysis method on slope are put forward. The bridge foundation position determining method put forward in this paper is supported by abundant and clear theory. Applying this method to engineering practices, the economical value will be remarkable.
