Spherical storage tanks main deposit flammable, explosive and toxic material. Damage in the earthquake easily causes serious economic losses and serious secondary disasters to the human environment. How to reduce the damage extent in the earthquake has become one of the important research topics. The development of structure control science, studies a new approach for seismic design and research of the spherical storage tanks. Based on the review of previous research, used the control thinking of the structure, to analyze the seismic response of the spherical tank of the base isolation and the energy dissipation.The research mainly includes the following parts:1. Have carried out the theoretical analysis about the spherical storage tanks, and deployed the base isolation and the energy dissipating device.2. Use ANSYS software to establish the finite element mode of the spherical tank under the conditions of uncontrolled, isolation, and energy dissipation, then carried out the modal analysis, and gave its vibration period and frequency. Chose three different seismic waves input to carry out the seismic response time history analysis of the base isolation structure and energy dissipating structure. Carried out the seismic response time history analysis of the base isolation structure and energy dissipating structure of different sites under the seismic action.3. By means of numerical analysis gave control effects of the base isolation and energy dissipation under the different seismic action and different sites, compared control effects of these two sort structures, gave descending value of the relative displacement and acceleration, which can provided theory reference for structure control design of the spherical storage tanks.
