With the wide and in-depth usage of DCS, conventional power plant simulator is not suitable for the developing simulation task, particularly for the futher study on DCS by the way of the advanced simulation technology. So, the design of new-type simulator becomes very significant and emergent.It's complex system engineering for the development of modern power plant simulator. This paper describes in detail the structure, constitutes, function and future development of DCS; and discusses deeply the modeling teconology and DCS simulation for power plant simulator. Combined with the concept of Virtual DCS, the intergration of real DCS and model arithmetic is proposed, based on the Virtual DPU technology supported by maxDNA.The technology of Virtual DPU stands on the basis of Industrial Ethenet and others. It is very important to solve the non-deterministic problem. maxDNA system ownes its specialities, and supportes re-construct of real DCS on common personal computer system platform. With the particular study on hardware structure, software system, function blocks, configuration tools and so on, a new-type of simulator platform based on Virtual DPU is designed and realized. Furtherly, functions of local operator station are presented. It has been proved that the scheme can solve many problems confronting conventional simulator in at least three aspects. At first, it has favourable opening characteristic and feasibility. Secondly, the design, debugging and deeper research on DCS can be executed with it. Finnaly, shorten development cycle and reduce cost.
