Recently, with the extensive application of Computer Aided Design, parameterized technology, one of important technologies to promote the level of intelligentized graphic design, and feature recognition technology became the focus of research in CAD/CAM. The primary task is researching parameterized feature modeling, discussing approaches of automatic feature recognition, and developing the product shape feature recognition and parameterized design system based on UG after analyzing microwave part.First, the main idea of parameterized technical theory was illuminated. The expression methods of geometrical constraint and 3D parameterized model were introduced in detail. A survey of automatic feature recognition was presented and the existing problems of current feature recognition methods and the possible solution strategies were discussed. Especially, the feature recognition and feature description in UG was presented. By means of aforementioned approaches and theories, feature and parameter analysis with microwave part was done. And feature recognition approach with microwave part was referred. In addition, the secondary development technology about Unigraphics and the application of it was introduced.Then, applied for an existent product—microwave part, parameterized modeling technology,automatic feature recognition approach and UG secondary development technology were used in the development of product shape feature recognition and parameterized design system. Parameterized microwave part database was set up. In this system, many function were implemented, such as shape feature parameter recognition,parameterized featured modeling and 3D module preview, etc.At last, a conclusion about the research job and the future application of it was given.
