| Ocean shipping is the basic industry of our country, and plays a very important role in the development of the national economy and society. At present, with the eastward movement of the international shipping market, our nation is transforming from a big center of the international shipping into a strong one, and shipping talent contributes a lot to the transforming. Moral education is the key to the cultivation of the qualified shipping talent, while discipline is the main content of moral education. As future navigators, college students in Marine major should strictly abide by the discipline because of the followed reasons: one is that they should abide by the rules and regulations made by schools; and another is that it can ensure they will become qualified sailors in the future.The paper mainly discusses the contents, characteristics and actualizing mechanism of discipline for college students in Marine major, and introduces the function of discipline. Firstly, through the investigation of discipline situation, the author divides the behaviors of violating the discipline into three types including the political and criminal wrong and the study wrong as well as the violation of the discipline of daily management. In addition to education and society environments, the qualities of college students in Marine major are the main reasons, which lead them to violate disciplines. Then, the paper offers some countermeasures for the problems, such as enhancing their qualities, renewing education idea and optimizing education resources, reforming the actualizing mechanism of discipline, providing them a harmonious environment and so on.In a word, it is necessary to offer college students in Marine major discipline education.
