Rapid design of assembly order is the efficient approach to shorten the establish cycle of technical documents and improve the establish efficiency during the establish process of airplane technical documents. This paper makes research into the methodology of assembly order design based on case. The key technology such as representation and searching of the case, establish and maintenance of the case-base is lucubrated. The computing method of assembly order semblance is studied, the design and develop of the assembly order module is completed. And a component of a certain airplane is taken as an example to validate the system; consequently the system could support the design of the airplane assembly order. The main content of the paper is as follows:An assembly order design methodology based on case for airplane parts or components is presented, and the operating principle of the methodology is expatiated. Further, the theoretical system is established.The instance model for airplane assembly order is constructed; the assembly order instance is organized according to the assembly layer relations of airplane components; and the organization structure of the assembly order instance is represented by object oriented method. The establishment of the case-base and the storage organization of the data base are researched.A searching technology for assembly order instance based on semblance is presented; the computation of the semblance is studied. The searching process, the semblance matching algorithm and the semblance computing function for assembly order instance are studied. And the upper wall panel of a certain airplane is taken as an example to validate the algorithm.The design model for airplane assembly order based on case is developed; and the architecture and the operating process of the model are built up. For the key technology research of this paper, the design and development of the model are completed with CAA RADE which is the secondary developing tool for CAT1A. And finally, the application of the model is validated with the upper wall panel of a certain airplane as an example.
