The paper firstly introduces the types of lightning and its harm. The necessity of lightning protection for communication vehicle and the background of its study are analyzed.In the second chapter, the model of lightning channel base current and stroke current with Heidler Model and modified transmission-line Model are established. The current waveform and frequency spectrum are analyzed according to the current model. Then the electromagnetic field around lightning channel is computed based on the theory of electric dipole.In the third chapter all the coupling paths of direct and indirect lightning firstly are analyzed and the inductive voltage and current on top antenna, power line and signal line from lightning electromagnetic pulse according actual connection condition of communication vehicle are calculated.According to the analysis and calculation Chapter four gives the protection measures for direct lightning. It is mainly through installing lightning arrester on the top, equipotent connection and grounding for protection of direct lightning. According the actual installing condition of top antennas the protection areas of lightning arrester is calculated by rolling-ball method. It is suggested that the layout of top antenna should combine with the design of lightning protection so that them can be effectively protected.In the fifth chapter the indirect lightning protection for communication system is presented. It is mainly through installing SPD on the ports of antenna feeder line, power line and signal line, shielding and filtering for protection of indirect lightning. Communication vehicle system is divided to different lightning zones. In the zones according to different coupling voltage and current different SPD is selected and classes cooperated to prevent for indirect lightning. To get the aim of filtering and lightning protection, the design of power lightning protection filter is give and its performance is verified by simulation and test.Integrated lightning protection system for immobile communication vehicle is given in this paper. Effective protection of direct and indirect lightning is set up. It is important for engineering practice.
