With the development of social economy and technology as well as the improvement of human consciousness about energy and environment, heat pump systems have been widely used in both china and abroad. Although the usage of river surface heat pump is still on initial stage in china nowadays, this kind of air conditioning system is restricted by geographical conditions, the higher temperature of water has an immediate effect on water environment and system. In this paper a further study of this problem is given to analysis the feasibility applications of water-surface heat pumps in Shanghai Expo 2010.Firstly, based on the research findings of the linear relation between air and water temperature, this paper obtains water temperature data of the Hangpu River. After introducing the energy schemes , methods for controlling water quality and reversing cunent characters, the article give a 2-D numerical model for simulating the horizontal water temperatue distribution in Hangpu River of Expo area.Secondly, though the application of hydrologic data , the river level , the location and dimension of the intake and outlet of discharge water are determined. A 3-D numerical model is also developed to simulate the spatial influence of the discharged cooling water to provide theoretical foundation for system design.Finally, this paper focused on the application of surface-water heat pumps for reducing urban heat island effect and arrangement of inlet and outlet. Also analyzed the influence of temperature and furring on the heat pump system.
